GANGESHWAR JOR BANGLA SHIVA TEMPLE, BARONAGAR

This is another Jor Bangla type of temple built by Rani Bhavani. The front facade is shown here. The curvilinear form of the roof is typically of the Bengali temple architecture. The profusely decorated pillars and walls between the arches with animals & human forms are a reminder of the Sanchi tradition.

CHARBANGLA TEMPLE, BARONAGAR

One of the Charbangla temples built by Rani Bhavani of Natore. Each temple has three arched openings & three Shiva Lingas. The decorative themes, which vary, are drawn mainly from the Hindu Epics & Puranas. On the top of the curvilinear roof stand three tridents symbolising the spirit of Shiva to which deity ,the temple has been dedicated. The rosetts & traceries have framed the structure & the terracotta panels into an intersting pattern. The main panel above the middle arch of the temple depicts the scene from Ramayan of the epic fight between Rama & the Ten- headed Ravana.
